More on the musicians from the press release after the break.TRAUMA is the duo incarnation of Chris Riggs-guitar and Ben Hall-drumset {Graveyards, The New Monuments, Bill Dixon Trio}. Trauma works in two primary modes alternating between broken approaches to 21c chamber music and, more recently, busted approaches to hardcore. That said, the most reliable this meets that description of their recent approach is AMM meets Discharge as played by Terry Riley. Morrocan trance/Gnawan music is also an obvious influence but of course with a shredded post-Wolf Eyes Michigan approach.
HERONS hail from Annandale-on-Hudson (ie Bard College ) just down the river. They make wonderful sonic stews that one might descibe as psychedelic, hypnotic, heavy, deep, and utterly engaging. They often perform with excellent multimedia video projections. Herons will be making their first above-ground appearance in Albany .
SLEEPY DEMONS are from Hudson and feature a revolving cast of musicians, several of whom have played ASAC before in the past year (including Cyrus Gengras and Jeremy Kelly). An amazing amalgam of talent, they dabble in drone, noise, psychedelia, homemade electronics, and much much more.
TWILIGHT of the CENTURY is the resident ASAC collaborative group of Linda Aubry Bullock, Mike Bullock, Ray Hare, and Eric Hardiman. They each play in several other projects, but when they join forces, they are able to conjure a unique blend of improvised and often atmospheric doom-laden beauty.
