Tim Perkis Touch Typing Tonight

I’m so happy to have an opportunity to play with Tim Perkis tonight. Tim will perform a solo set, then Andrew Raffo Dewar and I will join him for a set of improvisations. Tim will be playing his Touch Typing instrument featured in the video below. I first heard Touch Typing sometime in the 1990’s on the excellent Artificial Horizon recording with John Bischoff, so I’m looking forward to hearing Tim in person tonight.

I’ve traveled long distances for gigs before, but Friday I’ll just walk around the corner and down the street for a backyard concert featuring Kelley McRae and Matt Castelein. (Weather permitting; In the event of rain we’ll be inside.) Kelley and Matt are wrapping up an album release tour for The Wayside. I’ll be opening with a song-oriented set of banjo and electronics pieces including at least one new tune. Hope to see you in the ‘hood!

One Last Workshop Before the Grocery Closes

SF Grocery

The Sonic Frontiers Workshop Series at The Grocery concludes this week. I will present an introduction to interactive electronic music including a live performance or two. Then workshop attendees will create a one-night-only audio installation in The Grocery gallery using the Cycling ’74 Max modular programming environment. The Grocery will be closing its doors at the end of the month, so this is one of the last chances to come experience an important hub for cultural life in the Tuscaloosa area.
